VOID presented alongside Jennifer Palmisano (U.S. Customs & Border Protection), Andrea Thomas (Facing Fentanyl/Voices for Awareness) and Derek Maltz Sr. (former DEA Administrator), as we shed light on the dangers and the rapidly changing world of synthetic drugs
and the deception behind these dangers, mostly though social media platforms. This visit was a deeply meaningful experience and a powerful reminder of the vital partnership between advocacy and law enforcement in the fight against illicit fentanyl of every form. The agents, officers, and deputies in attendance represented agencies from across the country and around the world, all deeply committed to understanding the deceptive tactics drug traffickers are exploiting to reach our communities and
youth.
The engagement that followed our presentations was both encouraging and inspiring. Many law enforcement professionals shared plans to expand their outreach, collaborate with schools, community leaders, and advocacy groups, and bring more awareness to the threat that illicit synthetics pose.
It was a clear reminder that education and collaboration are essential — not only for response, but also for prevention. As these dangerous substances and the dealer’s methodologies continue to evolve, law enforcement must stay ahead through continued partnerships, open dialogue, and community-based initiatives rooted in trust and empathy. I remain profoundly grateful for the opportunity to share Zach’s story at the FBI Academy, and to witness firsthand the collective commitment to protect
families, educate communities, and ultimately save lives.
