Holding Mexico Accountable—Arresting Corrupt Politicians & Imposing Economic Consequences
The Mexican cartels do not operate alone. They are aided and protected by corrupt Mexican politicians, many of whom accept bribes to turn a blind eye—or actively collaborate with traffickers or are part of the criminal organizations such as the Sinaloa and CJNG Cartels. These officials allow the cartels to operate freely, ensuring a steady flow of fentanyl into the U.S. while profiting from American
deaths.
This cannot continue.
- The U.S. must take direct action to expose, sanction,
and arrest Mexican officials who collaborate with cartels and have them extradited here to face our justice system.
- Heavy tariffs and economic penalties must be imposed on the Mexican government until they eradicate cartel influence within their ranks.
- We must stop funding and aiding a Narco-Democracy that
enables mass murder through corruption and inaction.
For decades, Mexico has allowed cartels to function as a shadow government. We must treat them as terrorist organizations and any Mexican official aiding them as an enemy of the United States.
Going After China—Stopping the Flow of Fentanyl Precursors & Drug Money Laundering
While Mexico
is where fentanyl is manufactured, China is where it begins.
Chinese chemical companies supply the cartels with the raw materials needed to produce fentanyl. These same companies then launder billions in drug profits, ensuring the cartels remain financially untouchable.
This is not just negligence—it is economic warfare
against the United States and a direct threat to our national security.
- The U.S. must impose severe economic sanctions on China until they shut down these chemical suppliers.
- Chinese executives and government officials involved in fentanyl precursor production and money laundering must be indicted, sanctioned,
and arrested if they step foot in a U.S.-allied nation.
- The DEA, Treasury Department, and international allies must dismantle the Chinese money-laundering networks that keep cartel operations running.
If China were shipping chemical weapons (weapons of mass destruction) to terrorists, we would treat it as an act of war. Why is fentanyl any different?
Going After U.S. Banks & CEOs Enabling Cartel Money Laundering
While Mexico and China play critical roles in the fentanyl crisis, American banks and financial institutions are just as complicit.
Drug money is laundered through U.S. banks, facilitated by corrupt executives who turn a blind
eye in exchange for profit. These financial institutions allow cartel drug proceeds to flow freely, financing more fentanyl production, more distribution, and more deaths.
- The U.S. Department of Justice must aggressively prosecute any bank, financial institution, or corporate executive involved in laundering cartel money.
- Severe criminal penalties must be imposed, including prison time and asset forfeiture for CEOs and banking executives who enable this crisis.
- Congress must pass legislation closing money-laundering loopholes that allow cartels to use shell companies, cryptocurrency, and fraudulent wire transfers to hide drug profits.
Banks that knowingly launder blood money are no different than the cartels themselves. It is time for full accountability.
Activist Judges, District Attorneys and Prosecutors
American Judges, Prosecutors and District Attorney's need to apply and enforce existing laws and sentencing guidelines. Activist judges and prosecutors reducing sentences and/or releasing fentanyl dealers on lower bonds allow them to continue trafficking and selling deadly fentanyl knowing 6 out of 10 pills will kill. This is attempted murder. Activist judges and prosecutors need
to strictly adhere to sentencing guidelines to allow law enforcement to elicit cooperation to identify and pursue higher level distributors and sources of supply.
The Urgency of the HALT Fentanyl Act
One of the most immediate steps Congress must take is passing the HALT FENTANYL
ACT.
This legislation would permanently classify fentanyl-related substances as Schedule I drugs, closing loopholes that allow traffickers to alter fentanyl’s chemical structure to evade prosecution.
Without this law, drug cartels will continue exploiting legal gray areas, ensuring their deadly products remain one step ahead of the law. The HALT Fentanyl Act would end this legal loophole and give law enforcement the tools needed to go after traffickers.
Congress must act. Every day they delay, more Americans die.
Why Harm Reduction, Medically Assisted Treatment (MAT), & Law Enforcement Must Work Together
This is not a debate between harm reduction and enforcement—we need both, period.
- Harm reduction saves lives today by making Naloxone widely available, teaching people about fentanyl, and preventing immediate overdose
deaths.
- Medically Assisted Treatment (MAT) is essential for those suffering from addiction. We must expand access to medications like Suboxone and Methadone, which are proven to help people manage their addiction and regain control of their lives. Without treatment, addiction becomes a revolving door of relapse and risk.
- Law enforcement prevents deaths tomorrow by going after the dealers, traffickers, and cartel supply chains responsible for flooding our communities with poison.
If we only focus on harm reduction, we are treating symptoms while ignoring the disease. If we only
focus on interdiction, we fail to protect those already at risk.
We must attack both sides of the crisis—saving lives today while shutting down the flow of deadly drugs for the future.
We Parents Will Never Stop Fighting
I lost my son. That pain will never go away. But I refuse to let Daniel’s death be in vain. My fellow Advocates and I
will fight until:
- Snapchat is held accountable for allowing drug dealers to thrive on their platform and Section 230C of the Communications Decency Act is either amended or scrapped altogether.
- Corrupt Mexican politicians are arrested for enabling cartel rule.
- Heavy tariffs and sanctions are imposed on Mexico until they eradicate cartel influence.
- Chinese companies and officials are prosecuted for supplying fentanyl precursors and laundering drug money.
- Medically Assisted Treatment (MAT) is fully
funded and accessible to those struggling with addiction, as well as fully funded mental health services. Without treatment, addiction becomes a revolving door of relapse and risk.
- The HALT Fentanyl Act is passed to stop traffickers from exploiting legal loopholes.
- American banks and CEOs who facilitate cartel
money laundering are prosecuted and held accountable.
To every bereaved parent, I say this: We must stand together. We must fight as one. Because if we don’t, more children will surely die and that is unacceptable. Remember, this is NOT about ourselves; this is about our children and the future
of generations to come.
In these five years, I have met some of the most incredible, courageous people—parents, siblings, friends—who, like me, have been thrust into a world of grief and loss. Mr. Steve Filson who is like my Brother. Andrea Thomas, who I absolutely adore, Chris Didier, Adrianne
Sauter, Michael Fiore, Jill Cichowicz, Jim Rauh, Sam Chapman, Amy Neville, and Bridgette Norring to name just a very few, and people like Mathew Brodman, Dr. David Asher, Derek Matz, Jon Delena, Sean Ferns, Colleen Bloss, Dr. Beatriz Villareal, James Carroll, Gretchen Peters, Shabir Saffdar, Senators, Congressmen and women and their aides. Our attorneys Carrie Goldberg, Naomi Leeds, Laura Marquez and Mathew Bergman who have devoted their lives to holding social media platforms accountable for
the death and devastation that reigns in nefarious platforms like Snap Chat and its enablers, (you know who you are) and so many more, who have joined our fight selflessly!
Together, we have turned our pain into purpose. We have stood before state and federal lawmakers, spoken in countless
schools, parent forums in both English and Spanish, Indigenous Communities and federal law enforcement agencies like the F.B.I., D.E.A., C.I.A., C.B.P. and H.S.I. and have been invited to the White House to speak of our Advocacy numerous times. We have challenged the silence, demanded change, fought the stigma of addiction and overdose, and changed the narrative from overdose to poisoning like so many other advocates have fought for. We have fought for awareness, for justice, for
action.
Through V.O.I.D., Project Facing Fentanyl, and the movement that has grown from our collective heartbreak, we have made strides that once seemed impossible. We have testified before Congress, passed legislation, educated communities in both English and Spanish with our Award-winning
documentary “Dead On Arrival”, and saved lives—all in honor of those we have lost. We are not just grieving parents; we are Activists and subject matter experts, fighting to make sure no other family has to endure this devastation.
Daniel, your name is spoken in every moment of my advocacy, your
face in every tear shed by the families I stand with. You and so many other innocent children have become a force for change, a reason to keep pushing forward, a beacon of hope for those who still have a chance. If love alone could have saved you, you would still be here. If longing could bring you back, you would never have left.
